ON THE SIDE. . .
This and that from the world of Valley politics.
ATTORNEY GENERAL BID: State Sen. Marc Dann of Liberty, who considerably raised his political profile as the most outspoken critic of the state's Bureau of Workers' Compensation scandal, is holding a Monday press conference to announce his candidacy for Ohio attorney general in next year's race. It's been apparent for quite some time that Dann, D-32nd, a lawyer and a top fund-raiser among Senate Democrats, has eyed the seat for several months. To date, Subodh Chandra, a former Cleveland law director, is the only announced Democratic candidate for the job.
Fill-in-the-blanks: Ohio Senate Minority Leader C.J. Prentiss of Cleveland issued a press release about election results throughout the state. Here's her insight into state Sen. Robert F. Hagan's loss to Jay Williams in the Youngstown mayoral race: "Sen. Hagan waged a hard fought race in the city of Youngstown and he will continue his tremendous work on behalf of his constituents in the Mahoning Valley in the Ohio Senate."
As for state Sen. Mark Mallory's mayoral victory in Cincinnati, Prentiss said: "We congratulate Sen. Mallory on his win in the Queen City and look forward to seeing the implementation of his campaign goals." If Hagan won, I'm sure "Hagan" would have replaced "Mallory," and "Youngstown" would have replaced "Queen City."
