Austintown Kiwanis Club holds installation of new officers
Reviewed were the past year's community service projects.
AUSTINTOWN -- The installation of officers was conducted by Austintown Kiwanis Club on Oct. 12 during a dinner meeting.
Inducted as president of the organization was Ann Marie Hiznay, and Brian Miller was seated as vice president. The installation was conducted by Barb Smith, lieutenant governor.
Claudia Newhard, immediate past president, was awarded a past president pen and plaque and a fall centerpiece in recognition of her service to the Kiwanis.
Accomplishments
A review of the club's community service achievements in the past year included the presentation of three $500 scholarships to Fitch graduating seniors; donating $200 to the Katrina relief effort, $500 to the Leonard Kirtz School and $500 to Youngstown and Mahoning County Public Library, and funds to Wickliffe Circle Christmas Committee; sponsoring a girls softball team, a junior league soccer team, a Fitch football player, the Fitch Key Club, and the AMS and Frank Ohl Builders clubs; participating in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive and the July 4th parade; upgrading the Kiwanis Pavilion at the township park; supporting the gifted program at Austintown schools, the Ronald McDonald House and the Youngstown State University basketball program; and purchasing a tree for 2020 in the township park.
