Local drugstore robbed of $200
YOUNGSTOWN -- A man robbed The Medicine Shoppe of Youngstown, 2603 Mahoning Ave. on the city's West Side, of about $200 around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
An employee of the drugstore told police that the robber walked up and asked if she had eye drops. He was wearing a jesterlike stocking cap with pointed edges that hung over his face, police.
The man then showed her a note ordering her to give him cash and to not direct attention to him; the note also said the worker had 30 seconds to comply or be killed, police said.
The robber kept one hand in his pocket, leading the employee to think he had a weapon, police said. The woman gave the man cash and he got into the passenger side of a maroon car parked on South Hazelwood Avenue, the report says.
The driver took the robber west on Mahoning and then north on North Schenley Avenue, police said.
The robber was described as white, around age 30, 6 feet 1 inch and 240 pounds. He also had a beard and dark, sloppy clothing, the report says.
No details about the driver were in the police report of the robbery.
