Lecture on Homer's'Crack the Whip'
YOUNGSTOWN -- American art scholar Robert Demarest will present a talk on the evolution of the Butler Museum of Art's signature painting, "Crack the Whip," at 2 p.m. Sunday in the museum's Zona Auditorium.
Winslow Homer created "Crack the Whip" during his lengthy stay in the town of Hurley in upstate New York. Demarest will also present information on other works created by Homer in the picturesque town.

Demarest's career at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons included heading the medical illustration unit. His medical and fine art hang in numerous private collections and museums.
He is the author of a book on Winslow Homer titled, "Traveling with Winslow Homer."
Lecturer to discussUnderground Railroad
YOUNGSTOWN -- Donna DeBlasio, director of the Center for Historic Preservation at Youngstown State University, will present a lecture at 2:30 p.m. Sunday on the Underground Railroad.
DeBlasio co-authored a documentation of historic and architectural properties of the Underground Railroad in Ohio for the Ohio Historic Preservation office.
The lecture will be given at the Youngstown Historical Center, 151 W. Wood St. The cost is $6 ($4 for Ohio Historical Society members), and $3 for students. For further information, call (330) 743-5934.
Choir concert
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform in concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Band to feature music by the 'March King'
WARREN -- The W.D. Packard Concert Band will present "Stars, Stripes and Sousa," a concert in the Sousa style honoring American war veterans, at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The concert is free to the public.
Dr. Vincent J. Polce, an instructor of music education and director of bands at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, will be the guest conductor. Minnita Daniel-Cox, a Columbus native who is a sought-after vocalist throughout the Midwest, will be the vocal soloist.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Andrew Schuller of Salem, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Band since 1986 and the high brass section commander since 2003, will be the trumpet soloist.
