SteelHounds' Christian is top player

He earned the league's top honor for his play last weekend.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Central Hockey League named Jeff Christian of the Youngstown SteelHounds as its player of the week.
Christian, a forward and captain, had five goals and two assists, and was plus-5 in the SteelHounds' two victories over Oklahoma City last weekend.
Christian scored all four goals in Youngstown's 4-3 victory over the Blazers Friday night, and came back the next night with the game-tying goal late in the third period, before assisting on the game-winning goal scored by Darryl Lloyd.
Played well together
"We had a great weekend and our line [Christian, Lloyd and Chris Richards] played well together," said Christian. "It was exciting to have such great support from the fans in our first weekend at home and to come away with the four points really made it a perfect couple of days."
Christian leads the CHL with 15 points and eight goals and is second only to teammate Chris Richards (plus-11) with a plus-10. All of the Burlington, Ontario native's points have come in the last four games.
"Jeff is looked upon for leadership along with his contributions on the ice and he really has been outstanding for us lately," said SteelHounds coach J.F. Laforest. "The way he and his two linemates have played in recent games is a great example of how players can play for each other and I think big things are coming this season from this trio. Congratulations to Jeff for this honor."

The SteelHounds play host to Tulsa Friday and Saturday at the Youngstown Convocation Center. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. starts.
