2 teens arrested, charged in break-in
GOSHEN -- Township police charged two teens after responding to a burglar alarm and after a neighbor reported someone was trying to break into a residence around 4 p.m. Saturday on state Route 165 here.
Ryan Ricciutti, 18, of Boardman and a 14-year-old Boardman boy were charged in the break-in. Both faced charges of breaking and entering and criminal damage.
According to police, the two were traveling on Route 165 (South Range Road) with two other teens when their vehicle ran out of gas. They decided to break into a home in the 11300 block of West South Range to steal fuel or call for a ride, police say.
After the neighbor called police, the suspects fled because they knew officers were in the area, a report shows.
While fleeing, they got rid of what police thought was an imitation Beretta 9 mm handgun that turned out to be an air pistol, the report says.
They were taken into custody a short time later, the report says.
Ricciutti is being held in the Mahoning County Jail and will be arraigned in Mahoning County Court No. 3 in Sebring on Tuesday. The 14-year-old was released to his parents.
The other two teens were not charged.
