2 face multiple charges in robbery
The 69-year-old woman was dragged on the ground during the robbery.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A man and a woman, both from New Castle, were arrested on a variety of charges shortly after a woman returning to her vehicle was robbed of her purse around 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the Wal-Mart parking lot, Union Township.
Sabrina Lee Salamon, 25, who listed a Marshall Avenue address, and Richard Ward, 42, of Emery Street, were taken into custody after their vehicle was stopped near Atlantic and Sunny avenues.
Pennsylvania State Police say that a struggle ensued when Salamon grabbed the 69-year-old woman's purse, and the victim refused to let go. The woman was dragged on the ground before Salamon jumped into a car driven by Ward and the pair fled, a police report says.
A witness gave state police a description and partial registration number of the car, and police apprehended Ward and Salamon around 1:30 p.m., the report shows.
The victim was slightly injured, but refused medical treatment. Her purse was recovered, but about $75 was missing, the report continues.
Salamon was arraigned on charges of robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, theft and receiving stolen property, and was in the Lawrence County Jail on a $12,000 bond.
Ward was in the county jail after being charged with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, theft and receiving stolen property. His bond was set at $10,000.
