Rembert sets record with 6 TDs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Pierre Rembert rushed for 272 yards and scored a Gateway Conference-record six touchdowns to lead Illinois State to a 48-23 win over Missouri State on Saturday.
Rembert scored three times in the first half and three times in the second as Illinois State (6-4, 3-3 Gateway) dominated Missouri State (4-5, 2-4).
Rembert scored on three straight Illinois State possessions on runs of 6, 2 and 2 yards in the first half to give his team a 20-10 halftime lead. The previous conference record was five.
In the second half, Rembert's first score came on a 51-yard run with 10:48 left in the third quarter.
He scored again on a 22-yard run with 5:39 left, and his final touchdown came at the 12:23 mark for the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run to put his team up 41-10.
Missouri State scored twice after that on an 18-yard pass from A.J. Porter to Franz van Haas with 9:09 left in the game and again on a 5-yard pass from Porter to Michael Sparks with 1:18 left.
Missouri State had the first lead in the game on a 36-yard field goal by Jon Scifres.
After Rembert scored his first touchdown, Michael Cooper scored on 1-yard plunge to give Missouri State its final lead at 10-6 with 10:12 left in the first half.
Illinois State finished with 568 yards of offense that included 227 yards passing by Luke Drone, who was 18-of-28 with one interception.
Missouri State's Lee Baker rushed for 105 yards and Porter finished with 109 yards passing on 10-of-17 completions.
W. Illinois 63, Indiana St. 35
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Western Illinois quarterback Steve LaFalce threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns in the Leathernecks' 63-35 victory over Indiana State on Saturday.
The Sycamores took a 7-0 lead on Blayne Baggett's 11-yard touchdown pass to Carl Berman on the team's first drive.
The Leathernecks (4-6, 2-4 Gateway) tied the game on their second possession after Travis Glasford used a 5-yard touchdown run to cap off a four play, 66-yard drive.
After Baggett was intercepted on Indiana State's 33-yard line, Western Illinois needed just four plays to go in front 14-7. Glasford scored from 2 yards out and gave the Leathernecks the lead for good.
Baggett connected with Berman again to pull the Sycamores (0-10, 0-6) to within 28-21 before the Leathernecks scored 28 unanswered points.
Glasford finished with 158 yards on 35 carries and four touchdowns.
Baggett completed 27-of-42 passes and had 353 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Sam Logan had eight catches for 165 yards and one touchdown for Indiana State.
