BOSTON -- Richard Hamilton hit a 20-foot jumper with no time remaining to give Detroit the victory. Tayshaun Prince found Hamilton just inside the 3-point arc with the inbounds pass and Hamilton got the shot off as time expired. The Celtics have lost seven of their last eight against the Pistons, dating to the start of the 2003-04 season. Hamilton led the Pistons with 26 points while Chauncey Billups scored 16 and Rasheed Wallace added 15. Ben Wallace had 15 rebounds for Detroit. Paul Pierce scored 28 points for the Celtics, while Mark Blount added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Nets 102, Raptors 92
TORONTO -- Richard Jefferson had 35 points and 11 rebounds to lead New Jersey. Vince Carter added 20 points in his second regular-season game in Toronto since being traded to the Nets last December. Fans booed the six-time All-Star every time he touched the ball. Rookie Jose Calderon had 20 points and seven assists for the Raptors, who trailed by as many as 24 points in the third quarter. Toronto's Jalen Rose had eight points, and didn't play in the fourth quarter. Jefferson finished 9-for-17 from the field and 12-for-14 from the free throw line.
Grizzlies 94, Magic 85
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Eddie Jones had five 3-pointers and scored 25 points and Pau Gasol had 22 points to lead Memphis. Steve Francis had 22 points for the Magic, who have lost both games at home, while Dwight Howard added 16. The Grizzlies took control in the middle of the fourth quarter after Orlando had gotten within 72-70 on two free throws by Kelvin Cato. Gasol hit consecutive jump shots and Jones made a 3 and Memphis gradually pulled away.
Bobcats 110, 76ers 93
PHILADELPHIA -- Emeka Okafor had 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Brevin Knight added 14 points and 15 assists to lead Charlotte. Kareem Rush scored 14 points and Primoz Brezec had 11 for the Bobcats, who dominated the boards, converted turnovers into points and used a deeper bench to send the Sixers to their second home loss this week. Allen Iverson led the Sixers (0-3) with 29 points, while Chris Webber added 20. The Bobcats -- 18-64 in their inaugural season -- took a 12-point lead in the second quarter and were never really challenged after that.
Wizards 86, Knicks 75
NEW YORK -- Gilbert Arenas scored 27 points for Washington to spoil Larry Brown's first home game as Knicks coach. Antawn Jamison scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter for the Wizards. Stephon Marbury scored 19 points and Eddy Curry had 12 for the Knicks, who lost their fourth straight home opener. Brown, a Brooklyn native, is coaching his eighth NBA team. He was hired in July to turn around his hometown team after it went 33-49 last season. New York had rallied from a 19-point deficit to tie the game at 67 early in the fourth quarter on Malik Rose's basket. Jamison and Jarvis Hayes each made two jumpers for an eight-point lead.
Nuggets 107, Trail Blazers 68
DENVER -- Marcus Camby had 23 points and 17 rebounds for Denver as coach George Karl returned from a two-game suspension. Carmelo Anthony had 14 points and Voshon Lenard came two assists shy of a triple-double for the Nuggets, who won their first game of the season after losses to the Spurs and Lakers. Darius Miles had 13 points to lead Portland, which opened the season Wednesday with a four-point loss at Minnesota. Portland's Sebastian Telfair finished with five points and three assists.
