High schoolers to attend career seminar
YOUNGSTOWN -- More than 450 students from 16 high schools in the tri-county area will attend Business 2020, a seminar on career opportunities in business.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the Youngstown State University campus.
It's sponsored by YSU's Williamson College of Business Administration in conjunction with Junior Achievement of the Mahoning Valley, the Industrial Information Institute for Education and Ohio Edison.
Three panel sessions will be offered showcasing various aspects of business: entrepreneurship, careers in business and preparing for the job market.
More than 30 area leaders from various segments of business will offer insight and information.
Michael Senchak, president and chief executive of Mahoning Valley Hospital, will give the keynote address at 9:20 a.m. in the Chestnut Room.
Senchak, who received a bachelor's degree in business administration, an associate's degree in nursing and a master's of business administration degree from YSU, started his career as an orderly with Humility of Mary Health Partners and was promoted to various clinical, business and administrative positions within the organization.
