Last race: Carl Edwards swept both Nextel Cup races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and made up some ground in the Chase for the championship. Tony Stewart finished ninth and increased his lead atop the standings from 15 points to 43 points over Jimmie Johnson, who finished 16th -- the last driver on the lead lap.
Last year: Inaugural race.

O'Reilly Challenge

Last race: Clint Bowyer won his second race of the season, rallying from deep in the field to win the Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park on Oct 22. Points leader Martin Truex Jr., who started from the pole, dominated early and wound up third. Truex leads Bowyer by 100 points with three races left.

Last year: Todd Bodine won his second straight race, leading the final 38 laps of the Silverado 350.

Last race: Sebastien Bourdais needed only to start the race to win his second straight Champ Car title. He did a whole lot better -- winning the Lexmark Indy 300 at Surfers Paradise, Australia, on Oct. 23 for his fifth victory in the last six races.
Last year: Bourdais overcame a spin and a sticky gearbox to win his first Champ Car title, beating teammate Bruno Junqueira with a flag-to-flag victory in the Grand Prix of Mexico.
