Hearing postponed for man charged in homicide

SHARON, Pa. -- A preliminary hearing for a Sharon man charged with criminal homicide last week after an apparent domestic dispute has been postponed.
Police arrested Jeremy Archer, 28, of North Water Street, on Oct. 27 after a car and foot chase. He was wanted in the death of Kristen Lynn Truchan, 24, of Masury. Police said the two had a relationship.
His preliminary hearing was continued from Thursday to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15, at his attorney's request, before District Justice James McMahon here. A second preliminary hearing scheduled for today on unrelated charges also was continued to Nov. 15. Court officials said the two proceedings will be consolidated.
Sharon police charged Archer with criminal homicide after Truchan was found dead in Archer's home Oct. 26. Preliminary autopsy results show that Truchan suffered head and face trauma from a hatchet and was strangled, authorities said.
Additionally, Hermitage police said Archer was involved in an unrelated robbery Oct. 27 at a house in the 100 block of South Oakdale Avenue.
They charged him with burglary, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle and theft.
Hermitage police said the resident came home from work at 11:30 a.m. and found Archer inside. They said Archer held a gun to the resident's head and demanded money. The homeowner was bound and gagged before Archer left with money, jewelry, credit cards, check books and the victim's 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier.
