Senior CB Ross Watson (Austintown Fitch) of Mount Union came up with a team-leading seventh interception of the season against B-W.
GROVE CITY vs. WESTMINSTER
Where: Burry Stadium, New Wilmington, Pa.When: 1 p.m. Records: Grove City 3-6, 2-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference, Westminster 3-5, 1-3Scouting report: Grove City lost to Alfred last week, 27-7, while Westminster fell to Frostburg State, 16-13. Senior PK Chris Castillo (Fitch) kicked field goals of 31 and 39 yards to give the Titans a 6-0 lead over Frostburg State. Senior NG Ryan Chmura had a team-high 14 tackles, including six solo stops and other team-highs of 2.5 tackles for losses and 1.5 QB sacks, and was named PAC defensive player of the week. Senior DE Steve Weary (Reynolds) of Grove City blocked an extra-point kick attempt to give him six blocks for the season and nine for his career. Weary's six blocks are believed to be a single-season national record, while his nine career blocks are believed to tie the national record.
BUFFALO STATE vs. THIEL
Where: Alumni Field, Greenville, Pa.When: 1 p.m.Records: Buffalo State 3-4, Thiel 8-0Scouting report: Buffalo State is coming off a 34-22 win over Plymouth State last Saturday, while Thiel stayed unbeaten with a 24-14 win over Thomas More to win its first PAC title since 1972. The Tomcats also set a school record with their eighth win of the season.
CARNEGIE MELLON vs. BETHANY
Where: Bethany Field, Bethany. W. Va.When: 1 p.m.Records: Carnegie Mellon 4-4, Bethany 1-8Scouting report: Carnegie Mellon posted a 23-20 win over Case Western Reserve last Saturday, while Bethany lost to Chicago, 42-3. Junior T.J. Parker (Fitch) caught five passes for 41 yards for Bethany. Parker, who shares the school record for most TD receptions in one season with eight, missed a chance to break the mark when his 51-yard TD catch late in the fourth quarter was nullified by a holding penalty. Parker has caught 37 passes for 565 yards this year.
KENYON vs. HIRAM
Where: Charles A. Henry Field, HiramWhen: 1 p.m.Records: Kenyon 4-4, 4-1 North Coast Athletic Conference; Hiram 1-7, 1-4Scouting report: Kenyon outlasted Earlham in overtime last Saturday, 16-13, for a share of second place in the NCAC standings; while Hiram lost to Wooster, 59-17.
