Police charge Youngstown man
BOARDMAN -- A Youngstown man is expected to appear in court today accused of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
A police officer saw a car parked in the fire lane of the Doral Drive Giant Eagle about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. A man later identified as Antonio Cleveland Jr., 23, of Williamson Avenue, another man and two juveniles were in the car, and the officer asked them to move it from the fire lane.
While Cleveland was moving the car, a dispatcher ran a check on the temporary tag on the car and it came back as having been issued for a different year and model of vehicle. The officer had to request to see the identification several times before, according to reports, Cleveland jabbed the officer in the chest with the identification card.
Cleveland returned the card to his wallet when the officer reached for it.
He was uncooperative with other officers who arrived at the scene while they tried to handcuff him, according to reports.
Cleveland, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
He was taken to the Mahoning County Justice Center where 3 grams of suspected crack cocaine wrapped in 21 individual plastic bags was found in his sock.
An additional charge is expected.
