Free bus service Friday
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Western Reserve Port Authority will offer free service Friday to all riders on all routes in honor of the home opener of the Youngstown SteelHounds at the city's convocation center.
WRTA also plans to provide free shuttle service with its red trolley and a full-sized bus before, during and after the minor-league hockey team's game. The free shuttles begin at 5:15 p.m. and end an hour after the game ends.
The service was offered Sunday for the Tony Bennett concert, and WRTA officials say the authority transported almost 600 people that evening.
WRTA wants to continue to offer the shuttles for events at the center, but needs sponsorships to offset operating and fuel expenses.
