FARRELL, Pa. -- The Farrell Alumni Hall of Fame will honor its first class of inductees at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the high school cafeteria.
The honorees and their year of graduation are: Dr. Julia Marshall (1931); Ludima Gus Burton (1938); George W. Lewis (1946); Julius McCoy (1952); Donald Cagigas (1957); Jack Marin (1962); and Veleter Mazyck (1970).
This year's posthumous inductee is former superintendent of schools John Hetra (1922).
Tickets are available at $15 each through Thursday and can be purchased at the district's elementary, high school and central offices or the Farrell Municipal Building. Seating is limited.
The hall of fame was formed last year at the suggestion of Farrell schools benefactor and former teacher Ted Pedas to recognize alumni who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to the high school in the field of academics and other accomplishments.
An alumnus may be nominated for induction any time beginning 25 years after his or her graduating date, and nomination forms are available at the district's central office or the city building.
Members of the hall's board of directors are Anthony Aiello, Serena Nevant, Virginia Price, Nicole Smith, Dr. James G. Kollar, Russell C. Phillips, Michael Wright, Jim Raykie and schools Superintendent Richard Rubano.
