CAMPBELL -- Two lifelong residents are running for the 2nd Ward seat on City Council.
Incumbent Bryan K. Tedesco and his challenger, Cliff Paul Chuey, both believe the major challenge they would face is improving the city's financial condition.
Tedesco, who has been 2nd Ward councilman for the past six years, said his goal is to strengthen Campbell's economic stability. He would accomplish that by bringing in existing businesses and developing new businesses in the community, which would create jobs and improve the tax base.
Chuey, who has been Precinct B committeeman in the 2nd Ward since 2002, said that in addition to utilizing grants, he would raise new revenue by having gas wells drilled on city property.
Chuey said he wants to serve on council because he is at the point in his life where he would like to give back to Campbell and its citizens.
"The people are my priority. They deserve to be equally represented and respectfully served. I will do this by keeping the lines of communication open, by encouraging residents to voice their needs, concerns and ideas to me, and by sincerely seeking and finding answers to their questions, Chuey said.
Tedesco said he has a good working relationship with his fellow councilmen, the mayor and administration, and would like the opportunity to work together with council and the mayor to bring financial stability back to Campbell.
"I am proud of my community. I care about its people and would like to continue to serve, not only the people of the 2nd Ward, but the entire community of Campbell," he said.
