FESTIVALS
XImmaculate Heart of Mary is hosting its 22nd annual festival June 8-12 on the church grounds, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday. A polka Mass is planned for 5 p.m. Saturday, with music provided by the Eddie Vallus Polka Band. More than $6,500 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a $5,000 grand prize and special drawings Sunday evening. Nightly dinners will be served in the new Monsignor Prokop Parish Center. Dinners are as follows: Friday, fish, from 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, pasta, 4 to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, chicken, noon to 5 p.m. A 5K run is set for Thursday, with registration at 5 p.m. and the race to begin at 7. Free hot dogs and beverages will be given to all participants. Entry fee is $10, or $12 the day of the event. A bench press-dead lift will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the parish center. Participants must preregister and weigh in on Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. or Saturday from 7 to 9 a.m. Horse races, blackjack, wheels and poker will be back, as will the white elephant booth, in the school cafeteria. Entertainment will be DJ JAM from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; music with "Past Times"-Top 40s from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday and Sunday; and the Eddie Vallus band from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
FUND-RAISERS
XAmerican Cancer Society Relay For Life is scheduled Friday and Saturday at Frank J. Mangano Memorial Track in East Liverpool. All cancer survivors are encouraged to walk the opening lap during the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday. For more information, call (330) 533-0546 or (888) ACS-OHIO.
QUILT SHOWS
XAustintown Quilting Angels and Fabric Patch Quilting Group will sponsor a quilt show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacey Pavilion at Austintown Park, Kirk Road. The Quilt Bus from Esperance, N.Y., will be present. Admission into the show will be $2, and refreshments will be available. An evening lecture by the Quilt Bus owner, Kris Driessen, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. She will lead a discussion of fabrics, economics, politics and other factors that influenced the quilting of our foremothers. Cost for the lecture is $2. A quilting workshop will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the pavilion. Cost for the workshop is $15 and reservations can be made by calling (330) 898-3151.
SALES
XEaster Seals will hold its marathon garage sale at Ridgeview Plaza in Warren. Doors will open at 9 a.m. Friday for a 58-hour marathon sale ending at 7 p.m. Sunday. XParish Life Committee of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown is sponsoring a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11 and 12 at Paul's Tire Center, 4852 Southern Blvd. Donations will be accepted from Wednesday through June 10 at the tire center. No clothing will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the many multicultural programs and activities within the parish community.
