Trustees will address fire station renovations

POLAND -- The Western Reserve Joint Fire District's trustee board has scheduled a meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday regarding renovation issues for the fire district's main station at 111 S. Main St.
The meeting will take place at the Poland Township Government Building on Dobbins Road. The board will officially approve Strollo Architects to supervise the renovation.
Tom Madej of Strollo Architects will coordinate the renovations, said administrative secretary Diane Ingold. "Once the board approves him Wednesday, he will begin to form specifications for contractors to bid on," Ingold said.
The board will then review quotes from prospective bidders after a given time frame, she added. Once the board decides on the best bid, it will notify the winner, who will begin to hammer out the project's schedule.
The station is hampered by a leaky roof, old brickwork and foundation problems.
"The building is more than 100 years old," Ingold added.
The fire district's trustee board handles the business and administrative duties of the fire department. The fire district, which serves the village of Poland and Poland Township, has three fire stations.
