Ohio has adventurous activities in store for visitors this summer

MANSFIELD (AP) -- Spend the night in a dark prison. Hear the story of the Titanic. Work on an old-fashioned farm.
These are some of the experiences being offered around Ohio this summer.
The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield is hosting overnight "ghost hunts" in which participants explore the prison by flashlight and learn about its history. You must be 21 to take part; the $50 ticket includes a late-night pizza dinner. Dates for this year are June 3 and 25, July 8 and 23, Aug. 12 and 27, Sept. 3 and 16, and Nov. 5 and 19. Details at www.mrps.org or (800) 642-8282.
The Center of Science and Industry in Columbus is hosting "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition," through Sept. 5. The traveling show tells the story of the luxury ship from its construction to its famous demise. Items on display from the wreck site range from luggage to champagne bottles. The exhibit has already set attendance records for the museum, attracting nearly 67,000 people in two months. Go to www.cosi.org for details.
Visitors to Ohio can also learn more about traditional Amish communities, either by taking a guided tour, eating a home-cooked Amish meal, or even by helping an Amish family with gardening, quilting or canning. The majority of Ohio's Amish live in Holmes County, located between Columbus and Akron, but there are also Amish in Geauga County, east of Cleveland, and Tuscarawas County, south of Canton.
