Dotson arraigned; $325,000 bond set

YOUNGSTOWN -- Kevin L. Dotson, who police said escaped from St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the shoulder outside the Woodrow Wilson High School prom May 20, was arraigned Friday in municipal court.
The 18-year-old North Belle Vista Avenue man fled to Columbus and was captured there. He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, conveyance of a weapon onto school property, possession of crack cocaine and escape. Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly set bond at $325,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Friday.
Dotson and a 17-year-old girl were the victims of a drive-by shooting at the high school.
Police said Dotson's gun fell out of his pants after he was shot and it was picked up by Ronaldo Miller, 21, of East Dewey Street.
Miller is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, illegal conveyance of a weapon onto school property, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. His bond is $150,000 and he will be back in court Tuesday.
Dotson has a sentencing pending in an unrelated case in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, the clerk of court said.
