CAMPUS NOTES | In the spotlight



OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, Columbus
Lindsay J. Donofrio, a 2001 Canfield High graduate and senior at Ohio State University, was recently selected as this year's Daniel J. Edelman/Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Award recipient as the nation's most outstanding public relations student. This award is a national competition sponsored by the Edelman Company and the PRSSA to offer opportunities to students interested in entering the public relations industry
Donofrio will be graduating from OSU in June, magna cum laude with honors, and will earn a degree in strategic communications and public relations. As part of this award she will receive a paid internship this summer in Edelman's New York City office as well as a cash award. Donofrio is the daughter of Gene and Janet Donofrio.
Three Ohio State University sophomores from Mahoning County -- Matthew Fulmer of Austintown, Stephanie Gent of Boardman and Amanda Williams of Canfield -- were among the 30 inducted into the 98th class of the Bucket and Dipper Junior Class Honorary. The program is one of two junior class honoraries on OSU's campus. Members are chosen on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, Alliance
Amanda Buzzacco and Catherine Curran, both of Youngstown, and Kelly Wilson of Niles were given certificates at a recent ceremony to recognize their leadership in the Alpha Lambda Delta honorary at Mount Union College.
Alpha Lambda Delta is a national scholastic honorary society for freshmen. To be eligible for membership, students must have a 3.5 grade point average after the first semester or a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at the end of two semesters. Participation continues throughout college.
Buzzacco received her bachelor of arts in business administration, while Curran graduated with a degree in English. Wilson studied history.
NOTRE DAME COLLEGE, Cleveland
Dr. Bruce Jones has received Notre Dame College's Distinguished Faculty Award. This honor is awarded to a full-time faculty member selected by faculty, staff and students for exceptional performance in and outside of the classroom. Jones is director of graduate and undergraduate education at the college, where he has held faculty and administrative positions since 1998.
Jones is retired from the Liberty school system in Trumbull County where he served as superintendent for 14 years. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio State University and his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Miami University in Oxford. Jones resides in Youngstown with his wife, Deborah. They are the parents of five children.
GROVE CITY COLLEGE, Grove City, Pa.
Jillian Antonucci, a Grove City College junior and a Girard native, was recently honored with induction into the Alpha Theta Mu chapter of Mortar Board this spring at Grove City College. Mortar Board is the national senior honorary on campus. Annually junior men and women with high scholastic achievement and who have contributed outstanding leadership and service to the college are tapped for membership.
