League of women voters seats Suzanne Barbati as president

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Greater Youngstown League of Women Voters elected new officers at its May 18 meeting.
Suzanne Barbati was chosen as president, and her associate officers are Marcellene Hawk Mayhall, first vice president; Holly Burnett, second vice president; Susan Savastuk, secretary; and Jane Beilby, treasurer.
Outgoing president Patti Rudawsky was presented with an engraved book bag for her service during the 2003-05 term.
State Rep. Ken Carano of Austintown, D-59th, presented members Carolyn May and Glorianne Leck with Distinguished Service awards for their work on the juvenile justice study and Marion Gillette for her efforts in voter service.
The league is working on a nonpartisan voter's guide on candidates and ballot issues for the fall election. The guide will be available on the Web and at Mahoning County libraries and businesses.
