MINNEAPOLIS -- Katie Smith scored 24 points and hit two key 3-pointers to lead Minnesota past Los Angeles. Chamique Holdsclaw scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds to lead five Sparks players in double figures. Lisa Leslie added 13 points, but started slowly, making just one of her first 10 shots. Minnesota led by 18 early in the second half, but the Sparks used a 17-4 run, capped by Leslie's 3-pointer, to cut the lead to 50-45 with 9:45 remaining. Leslie later hit a running bank shot to give Los Angeles its first lead at 59-58. Smith then made consecutive 3-pointers to put Minnesota up by five. She missed two free throws with 10.2 seconds remaining, but Svetlana Abrosimova's steal and two free throws helped sealed the win. Minnesota reserve Amber Jacobs scored nine points in a 23-11 run to finish the first half. Jacobs made all six of her free-throw attempts and added a 3-pointer. Her assists to Nicole Ohlde and Abrosimova for layups helped the Lynx to a 38-24 lead.
