Unbeaten: The last four tournament winners (Youngstown State in 2004, Illinois-Chicago in 2003 and Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2002 and 2001) all posted perfect marks in the winning the championship. YSU and the Panthers (twice) both won four games to win the title while UIC only had to win three in 2003.First tournament win: Wright State's first-year coach, Rob Cooper, picked up a victory in his first tournament game on Wednesday, 5-2, over Cleveland State. Wright State's last postseason win was in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference tournament in 2000. The Raiders had dropped eight straight.Buckeye meetings: The tournament games Wednesday ended a three-year run of all-Ohio contests. The past three events have been hosted by Youngstown State, Wright State and Cleveland State.Next season: UW-Milwaukee will play host to the Horizon tournament next season at Miller Park, home of the Brewers, May 24-28. In 2007, UIC is the host.Deja vu: Milwaukee opened Horizon League play for the second straight year with a victory. Last year, UWM beat Wright State to open competition before losing it next two to UIC and Butler.Two and through: Cleveland State and Butler meet in an elimination game today. The last time the Vikings went 0-2 in the tournament was in 2002, while the last time the Bulldogs were winless was 1996, although they did not qualify in 1997.
