42nd art exhibition set
WARREN -- The 42nd TAG Annual Juried Exhibition is set for July 16 through Aug. 27 at Trumbull Art Gallery, 196-198 E. Market St. The show is open to any regional artist (Northeast Ohio or northwest Pennsylvania) at least 18 years old. Cash awards will be given. Any medium will be considered. All work must be original, current and never have been exhibited at the gallery. A maximum of two artworks per artist may be entered for a nonrefundable fee of $25 ($20 for TAG members). It must be ready for hanging or display and cannot exceed 84 inches or 150 pounds. Entries will be accepted from noon to 4 p.m. July 9; 6 to 8 p.m. July 10; or 2 to 4 p.m. July 11. Artists are encouraged to call TAG before submitting work that is especially delicate or has special installation requirements. TAG reserves the right to photograph and reproduce any work accepted for the exhibition and will retain a 30-percent commission on any works sold. Spring Series returns
HARTFORD -- The world's best sprint car drivers will make their only appearance this year at Sharon Speedway on June 3 when the World of Outlaws Sprint Series returns to the speedway. Also racing that night will be Mod-Lites. During intermission, fans will be allowed into the pits for an Open Pit Party to get driver autographs and watch crews work on the cars. NASCAR show cars -- No. 07 Jack Daniel's Chevrolet and No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet -- will be on display.
Gates open at 4 p.m., and racing starts at 6. Advance tickets are $24 for adults (14 and older) and $12 for children 6 to 13. Prices the day of the race are $28 for adults, $14 for children. Kids 5 and younger will be admitted free. For more information, call (330) 772-5481.
