Girard couple touted for foster parenting

WARREN -- Trumbull County Children Services is recognizing James and Roseanne Frye as Foster Parents of the Year.
The Fryes, of Girard, were honored at the annual Foster Parent Recognition Banquet on Tuesday at Ciminero's Banquet Centre. They've been licensed foster parents since February 1987.
During those 18 years, they have had 50 children placed in their home. They have subsequently adopted four children (one set of siblings) and they are waiting to adopt another girl.
On numerous occasions they have accepted children in their home as emergency placements. For example, their first foster placement was a 5-year-old girl in a full-body cast.
When the Fryes originally were licensed as foster parents, they took infants, some of which were on heart monitors or needed extra medical attention. They now have interest in providing care for behaviorally and emotionally disturbed children between the ages of 5 and 15.
The Fryes have maintained relationships with birth families of their foster and adopted children. They also have been mentors and advocates for other foster parents.
Roseanne Frye has been an officer for children services' Foster Parent Association for 15 years, and she has been the association president for about 13 years.
