2004 statistics of violence in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties compiled by the Tri-County Family Violence Prevention Coalition:
CHILD ABUSE
Columbiana County: 412 referrals of child maltreatment, 179 victims.
Mahoning County: 218 referrals of physical abuse, 126 referrals of sexual abuse, 3,221 calls reporting maltreatment.
Trumbull County: 2,245 referrals of child maltreatment involving more than 5,000 children.
INTIMATE PARTNER ABUSE
Christina House in Columbiana County: 54 women housed, 56 children housed, 269 protection orders petitioned by clients at the shelter.
Sojourner House in Mahoning County: 60 women housed, 67 children housed, 700 protection orders filed.
Someplace Safe Inc., Trumbull County: 88 women housed, 64 children housed, 221 protection orders petitioned by clients at the shelter.
ELDER ABUSE
Columbiana County: 47 abused, 71 neglected by others, 37 exploited.
Mahoning County: 108 abused, 121 neglected by others, 110 exploited.
Trumbull County: 39 abused, 56 neglected by others, 67 exploited.
