Ordination to be celebrated
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Diocese of Youngstown, for the first time in two years, will celebrate the ordination to the priesthood.
Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will ordain Rev. Mr. Christopher Luoni and Rev. Mr. Matthew Shelton at 10 a.m. May 28 at St. Columba Cathedral. No men were ordained from the diocese in 2004.
The Rev. Mr. Luoni, a native of Canton, completed seminary studies at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. Ordained a deacon in 2004, he served his diaconate internship at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austintown.
The Rev. Mr. Shelton, a native of Niles, completed seminary studies at the Pontifical college Josephinum in Columbus. Ordained a deacon in 2003, he served his diaconate internship at St. Rose Parish in Girard.
Civil War re-enactment
SALEM -- Salem Community Fellowship, 1909 N. Ellsworth Ave., will host a Civil War Re-enactment church service in honor of Memorial Day at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Chaplain Rene Kinard and his wife, Rommi, along with a team of soldiers from Gettysburg, will conduct the service. The soldiers will set up a tent inside the church. As a special, one of the soldiers, Albert Keyser, will be impersonating General Ulysses S. Grant.

Devotion set for June 1
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and the Queen of the Holy Prayer Group will hold a Rosary Cenacle at 6:30 p.m. June 1.
The devotions will consist of the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, which will be recited during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
The devotion is open to the public. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.
Revivals and concert
COLUMBIANA -- Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, will hold a series of old-fashioned revival meetings and concert starting Sunday through Wednesday. The Southern gospel group, "God's Quad," will be featured in a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Rev. John Bartholomew will be preaching a series of sermons from Revelation at each nightly service at 7.

Ministry going to Detroit
WARREN -- The Olive Branch Ministry, 3223 Tod Ave. N.W., will be attending the Benny Hinn Ministries, "Miracle Crusade," on June 16 and 17 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Those interested should call (330) 394-5637 as soon as possible due to limited seating. The $90 cost will cover bus and hotel expenses.
Those interested in singing in the choir, serving as ushers or helping at book tables at the crusade should sign for the duties at the ministry.

Wade Raridon Singers
GIRARD -- Girard First Methodist Church, at Main and Market streets, will present the Wade Raridon Singers at 3 p.m. Sunday, concluding its fifth year of concerts of quality choral music.
The concert of sacred and secular selections will include the music of Bach, Mozart, Hayden, Pinkham, Barber, and others. Featured is the Samuel Barber "Agnus Dei," which is his own choral adaptation of "Adagio" for strings. The singers will present one of three choruses planned to honor America's young people serving their country in the military.
The singers received their vocal training at the Dana School of Music, where most were members of the Dana Chorale or the Dana Madrigal Singers directed by Raridon.
There is no admission charge for the concert. The public is welcome.
Meditation to be held
CANFIELD -- The Youngstown Chapter of the Rosicrucian Order invites the public to a meditation for peace at 1 p.m. June 12 at the Dublin Grange, 6571 Fairground Blvd. The meditation will be led by Joe Haybarger.

Revival features speakers
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shenango Valley Baptist Association will hold a revival at Morning Star Baptist Church, 747 Willow St., from Monday through Friday at 7 p.m.
Speakers will include Rev. Lesley Parker, Kimmelbrook Baptist Church; Rev. Walter Gillespie, Faith Temple Baptist Church; Rev. Lee Moore, Kimmelbrook and Rev. George Wilkins, Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Aaron Wilburn performing
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Calvary Temple, 1465 Sampson St., will present Aaron Wilburn in concert at 6 p.m. May 29.
Wilburn is the winner of two Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations and was a member of Bill Gaither's "Home Coming Friends Concerts."
"What a Beautiful Day," "Four Days Late," "It's Beginning To Rain," and his trademark "Bless Your Heart" will be a part of his concert.

Ron Elrod in concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave, will present Ron Elrod in concert during Sunday worship ( at 10:30 a.m.
Elrod will be leading the worship by presenting the gospel through music. An accomplished pianist, vocalist and composer, he has shared the stage with such artists as Bill Gaither and The Oak Ridge Boys.
The pubic is invited to this special service. There will be a free will offering during the service.
Pew rally is Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Nehemiah Ministry of Christian Bible Baptist Church, 2369 Oak Street Ext., will present a pew rally at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Rev. John Tate and the congregation of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church will be guests. Rev. Lawrence E. Shells is pastor of the Nehemiah church, and Sister Sonya Barclay is president.
Concert planned at Boardman UMC
BOARDMAN -- Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will present a concert featuring the India Children's Choir on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The cost of tickets is $3 for adults, and children 10 and under are free. A love offerring will also be taken.

Church music workshop
WARREN -- Pastor David L. Herron Sr. and Lady Brenda Herron announce that the Monument of Faith C.O.G.I.C. 2165 Highland Ave. S.W., will present "Worship Defined Through Song" on May 26--28.
The services will include music, worship and workshops ranging from interpretative dance and flag ministry, choir etiquette and procedure, and children's ministry and song.
