MAKE-A-WISH LPGA players could appear at Charity Open

Salem Hills will hold the event Aug. 22.
SALEM -- Fans who are disappointed that the LPGA Tour won't stop in the Valley this year may have another chance to renew old acquaintances with the professionals.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation's Summer Charity Open will be held Aug. 22 at Salem Hills Golf Course.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions. In Northeast Ohio alone 140 wishes were granted in the last year.
More than 80 percent of every dollar raised directly supports the wishes of these children.
The Summer Charity Open is a four-person scramble for men and women, regardless of skill level. Entry is $85 per person and includes a Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner.
There will also be several prizes and raffles available.
LPGA players possible
Scott Austalosh, the event director, is coordinating an effort with LPGA Tour pro Donna Wilkins to bring in some LPGA players to the event.
"Donna expressed to me that the players miss the event in Youngstown," said Austalosh. "They enjoyed coming here and the support that they received was outstanding."
Austalosh hopes to have a golf clinic conducted by the professionals prior to the event and a par-3 contest. The list of professionals scheduled to attend hasn't been finalized.
Several local personalities are also scheduled to participate, including the "Not Ready for Par Players" from ClearChannel Radio -- Dan Rivers, Thomas John, Jerry Mac and Chrissy Patrick.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is seeking sponsors for the event. Some sponsors are Sheely's Furniture, A.P. O'Horo Construction and ClearChannel Radio.
Austalosh is seeking sponsorships for the event, which are available from $25 to $250. Donations and volunteers for the event are also welcome.
