DOWNTOWN Festival booked for summer will emphasize cultural fun
The organization seeks to enrich cultural and social life in the Mahoning Valley.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pig Iron Literary & amp; Art Works Inc. will host its 2005 Community Street Festival July 30 in downtown Youngstown.
The festival will take place from 1:30 to 10:30 p.m. at North Phelps Street, between Commerce and Federal streets.
It will include entertainment, refreshments, clowns, exhibits and a sidewalk artist bazaar with original art and crafts for display and sale.
Scheduled entertainment will include music, performance, dance, poetry readings and a talent show for amateur performers. Programming will be family appropriate.
Entertainment
The entertainment stage will feature performances from 2 to 10 p.m.
Three judges from Youngstown State University, Pig Iron Literary & amp; Art Works, and the community will judge the talent show and award first, second and third prizes. There is no age limit and talents will be allowed up to four minutes to perform.
Admission to the festival is free, and a complimentary program will be distributed.

Pig Iron Literary & amp; Art Works is an incorporated Arts Foundation in the Mahoning Valley established in 1981. It is working with the Federal Plaza Office of the City of Youngstown to arrange and coordinate the festival.
Development
The foundation is organized to enrich the quality of cultural and social life in Mahoning Valley by sponsoring programs in the areas of literature, art, culture and community.
This year's event will be the organization's fourth community festival; earlier outdoor community events have been held at Wick Park in 1985 and on Phelps Street in 1998 and 2004.
