Community health
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Home Savings Charitable Foundation made a three-year pledge, totaling $30,000 to Community Health Services, the sole migrant health care delivery system in Ohio.
CHS is celebrating 35 years of medical and dental services to migrant farm workers in Sandusky and surrounding counties.
CHS provides sample and stock medications to patients when available, but often has to write prescriptions for local pharmacies. Because the vouchers have a dollar limit, the patient often must ration the amount of medicine purchased, which can have an adverse effect.
The three-year pledge will fund prescription vouchers and provide patients with the specific medications needed.
