XWedding vows were exchanged May 7 under early morning skies on Daytona Beach, Fla., by Audrey J. Scharfetter of El Paso, Texas, daughter of Linsley Pietsch of Sarasota, Fla., and Richard J. Smith, son of Patricia Smith, both of 633 Jones St., Hubbard, and Joseph R. Smith Sr. of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
The 7:30 a.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. Jeff Bunke, and a reception followed at Ocean Walk Resort before the couple left for a honeymoon to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Both the bride and groom are second lieutenants in the Army. She is serving as a platoon leader in the 552nd Battalion at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is in the infantry at Fort Benning, Ga. Both served in the Army ROTC and hold degrees from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, she in research meteorology and he in aerospace engineering.
The bride wore a strapless white lace gown and was attended by her sister, Heather Scharfetter of Sarasota, as maid of honor.
The groom's brother, Joseph R. Smith II of New York City performed the duties of best man.
