Statue to be unveiled
YOUNGSTOWN -- The statue of former Youngstown State coach Dom Rosselli will be unveiled on the patio on the south side of Beeghly Center today at 6 p.m.

Phantoms draft five
BOARDMAN -- Mahoning Valley Phantoms coach-general manager Bob Mainhardt and assistant coach Ian Fredricks selected five players in the North American Hockey League Entry Draft on Tuesday.
In the first round, the Phantoms selected defenseman Tony Yearego, who is 6-foot-2, 190 pounds.
The Phantoms then took goaltender Ira Greenberg (6-5, 205) in the second round, followed by forwards Dustin Cloutier (6-2, 200) and Brett Molnar (5-10, 185) and defenseman Paul Dittrich (6-1, 190). Dittrich attends North Allegheny High in suburban Pittsburgh.
The Phantoms also signed the following players to tenders for the 2005-06 season: defensemen Mark Bores (6-2, 200), Ben Caldwell (6-0, 190), Bret Larson (6-1, 195), Doug Leaverton (6-2, 170), Philip Partyka (6-3, 200), Christian Steingraber (6-0, 180) and Dennis Urban (5-10, 175), and forwards Chris Fairbanks (6-0, 190), Matt Quigley (5-11, 190), Anthony Scarpino (5-10, 175) and Jason Simota (6-0, 190).
Two tryout camps are scheduled for next weekend in Plymouth, Mich., and at The Ice Zone June 10-12. The 25-man roster will be determined at a final tryout July 14-17 at The Ice Zone.

*ALLIANCE -- Luke Summers of Springfield High will attend Mount Union College and play football.
Summers was a two-year letterman as an offensive and defensive lineman. He was named first team All-Inter-County League and honorable mention All-Northeast Ohio Inland.
Summers plans to major in business administration.
*CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Geneva College lost two games Thursday and was eliminated from the National Christian College Athletic Association baseball tournament.
Geneva fell to Chowan, 6-4, and Indiana Wesleyan, 5-2, finishing its season with a 23-21-2 record.
Clay Sefter had three hits against Chowan, including a home run, while Brandon Harlan singled twice.
*BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva College will have seven home football games in the 2005 season.
The Golden Tornadoes will open Aug. 27 against West Liberty State. Their other home games are against Bethel (Tenn.), Sept. 10; St. Francis (Ill.), Sept. 17; Malone, Oct. 8; Quincy, Oct. 15; Ohio Dominican, Nov. 5, and Urbana, Nov. 12.
Geneva will travel to St. Xavier (Ill.), Sept. 24; St. Francis (Ind.), Oct. 1; Walsh, Oct. 22, and Taylor, Oct. 29.

*INSTITUTE, W. Va. -- Thunderstorms halted play at the NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional Baseball Championship with fourth-seeded Slippery Rock trailing top-seeded West Virginia State 13-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday.
The game was scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. today.

SALEM -- The Salem Boxing Club will sponsor a night of bouts Saturday at the War Memorial Building, E. State St.
The first fight is set for 7 p.m. Boxers expected to take part include Mike "Hurricane" Kisk, Jason "Mongo" Miller and Corey "The Kid" Catania.
Tickets range from $15 to $30 at the door.

*INDIANAPOLIS -- The schedules just got more hectic for teams at the Indianapolis 500.
Rain washed out Thursday's practice session, during a week that was already shortened because there were no practices scheduled for Monday or Tuesday.
