YMTA Annual Masters winners to perform Sunday at YSU



YOUNGSTOWN -- Winners of the annual YSU-YMTA Masters Piano Competition, held May 14 in Youngstown State University's Bliss Hall, will perform their winning selections at an awards recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, also at Bliss Hall. The public is invited.
Winners were:
UKindergarten through third grades: Lily Gelfand, daughter of Professor and Mrs. Michael Gelfand, Boardman; and Olivia Demartino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Demartino, Canfield.
UFourth through sixth grades: Lindsay Kirkham-Olsen, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Eric Olsen and Thomas Kirkham, Boardman; Jacob Madison, son of Dr. and Mrs. John Madison, Salem; Dominic DeLaurentis, son of Atty. and Mrs. Dominic DeLaurentis, Boardman; and Haley Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward, Canfield.
USeventh through ninth grades: Jessica Shearer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Shearer, Wampum, Pa.; Emily Ackerson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Ackerson, Girard; and Randi Yazvac, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Yazvac, Boardman.
UTenth through 12th grades: Bethany Shearer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Shearer, Wampum, Pa.; Sammy Borzi, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Borzi, Boardman; and Kevin Hadi, son of Dr. and Mrs. Antonius Hadi, Howland.
UDuet division: Jessica and Bethany Shearer.
Chairman of the event was professor Tedrow Perkins, assisted by professor Larry Harris. Dorothy Schwers is president of the Youngstown Music Teachers Association, and teachers of the winners are Joan Cosgrove, Lisa Czifra, Fanny DiDomenico, Sister Germaine, O.S.U., Audrey Rhinehart and Diane Yazvac.
