STATE PATROL Investigation continues into turnpike slaying

Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators continue to interview witnesses in the shooting death of Dr. Gulam Moonda, who was robbed and killed a week ago on the turnpike.
Moonda, 65, of Hermitage, was a urologist at Sharon Regional Health System. His wife, Donna, and mother-in-law, Dorothy Smouse, 74, were in his 2000 Jaguar when the shooting occurred as they pulled over to switch drivers near North Royalton.
A man in a dark-colored van pulled up and shot Moonda in the head after robbing the doctor. The location was near milepost 164 on Interstate 80 westbound.
The investigation has expanded beyond Ohio into Pennsylvania. Investigators are reviewing private video surveillance videos and evaluating fingerprint and ballistic evidence collected at the crime scene.
The case is still being investigated as a robbery-homicide but other motives have not been ruled out, the patrol said.
More than 45 witnesses have been interviewed.
