NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Christina Kim shot a 6-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Siew-Ai Lim after the first round of the Sybase Classic. The 21-year-old Kim has only one top-10 finish this year and is 33rd on the money list a year after winning the Longs Drugs Challenge and finishing 19th in earnings. Former Sybase champions Gloria Park (2002) and Hee-Won Han (2003) were at 67 along with Miriam Nagl. Paula Creamer, Yu Ping Lin, Soo-Yun Kang, Mi Hyun Kim and Heather Bowie opened with 69s. Cristie Kerr, at No. 2 the only player among the top 10 on the money list in the field, shot a 72.
IRISH OPEN
MAYNOOTH, Ireland -- Sweden's Klas Eriksson, who spent three months in bed this season because of a liver virus, shot a 4-under 68 for a share of the first-round lead in the Irish Open with England's Nick Dougherty. Wales' Stephen Dodd, Sweden's Mattias Eliasson, Australia's Peter O'Malley and Ireland's Colm Moriarty opened with 69s on the Colin Montgomerie-designed Carton House course. Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke and England's Lee Westwood shot 70s, and Montgomerie was another stroke back at 71.
