Army Sgt. weds bride before Phillies game

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- White dress and veil? Yes. Flowers? Check. Tuxedo for the Phanatic? Of course.
Army Sgt. Thomas Miller, who is awaiting deployment to Iraq, and Angela Baldwin got married Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.
The Rev. Richard Sparling, the Phillies' chaplain, conducted the ceremony in front of about 40 family and friends two hours before the St. Louis Cardinals played the Phillies. When the ceremony concluded, the couple was greeted with a hug by the Phillie Phanatic mascot, dressed in a tuxedo.
"It was a spectacular, spectacular day," said the new Mrs. Miller. "I couldn't have asked for anything more. Except for one thing. If the Phillies beat the Cardinals, it will cap the day."
A lifelong Phillies fan, Miller is being deployed to Iraq in September. It will be the fourth time he has been deployed since joining the Army at 18. He's been to Kuwait twice and Iraq once before.
The couple e-mailed the Phillies on April 4 and the organization granted their wish. They were married in Ashburn Alley, an open plaza overlooking center field.
The Millers were staying to watch the game with family and friends before leaving Thursday night for their honeymoon in Atlantic City, N.J.
"I thought I was going to be leaving for Iraq sooner, but it turned out it was pushed back to September," Sgt. Miller said. "It works out well for us."
