EAST SIDE Bullet spray outside home kills woman

This is the city's 12th homicide of the year, one more than last year at this time.
YOUNGSTOWN -- More than two dozen bullet holes ripped through the tiny blue house on Oak Lane, one hitting and killing Lakeita Nolan, police said.
Detective Sgt. Ron Rodway said 16 to 17 bullets penetrated the front of the East Side house and 21 casings were collected from the front yard, likely from one gun. He said neighbors heard gunfire around 1:15 a.m. Monday but didn't see anything.
Rodway and Daryl Martin, also a detective sergeant, were back at the scene Monday morning, just hours after Nolan, 22, was shot in the back as she lay on the couch by the front door.
Yellow crime scene tape, looped around a tree, circled the front yard. A boat sat in the driveway of the rundown house with a faded roof and red trim.
Nolan's death is the city's 12th homicide of the year, one more than at this time last year. Lt. Robin Lees said no immediate motive stands out to show that Nolan was the intended victim. He said detectives would be talking to Nolan's associates.
First officers on the scene found Nolan lying on her back in the living room. One man who was in the house when the shooting occurred was questioned.
Victim returned to area
Martin said Nolan, originally from Youngstown, moved back a month ago from Lorain. The detective said Hubert Floyd, accused of shooting a taxi driver, owns the house and still had mail there.
In January, a Mahoning County grand jury indicted Floyd, 41, on charges of attempted murder and aggravated robbery in the shooting of an Independent Taxi driver, according to Vindicator files. Floyd listed addresses on Bennington and Atkinson avenues.
The driver, Julio Rivera, 37, of Early Road, was slashed along the jaw with a knife and shot in the neck.
