MUSIC Cleveland Orchestra announces 10-year deal with Miami center

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Orchestra and the Miami (Fla.) Performing Arts Center have announced a 10-year agreement starting in 2006-07.
Beginning in January 2007, the orchestra will devote three weeks each winter to performances at the new Miami Performing Arts Center, set to open in late 2006. The residencies will consist of a series of concerts, programs for families and schoolchildren, and educational collaborations between the orchestra and music institutions in the Miami area.
The orchestra adds the new Miami partnership to its three long-term performing relationships in Lucerne, Switzerland, Vienna, Austria, and New York City.
About the center
In addition to the 2,200-seat Carnival Concert Hall where the orchestra will perform, the $412 million arts center will include the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, a 200-seat black box Studio Theater, the Peacock Education Center, a restored Art Deco Tower and a 57,000-square-foot Plaza for the Arts suitable for free outdoor performances that will unite the center buildings across Biscayne Boulevard.
The center will be a performance home for its four resident companies -- Concert Association of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony, as well as for many other South Florida arts organizations that will perform in its theaters on a regular basis.
Cleveland Orchestra's partnership will be launched with two weeks of concerts at Carnival hall beginning Jan. 18, 2007, and will include educational programs. The residency will end with a week of concerts in March.
