YSU Canfield physician named to board of trustees

The new trustee is a YSU graduate.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The governor appointed a Canfield doctor who received her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University to the university's board of trustees.
Dr. Dianne Bitonte Miladore, 48, fills the post on the board vacated by Dr. Chander Kohli of Girard, whose nine-year term expired this month. Bitonte Miladore's term is also for nine years.
"As a graduate of YSU, I look forward to giving back to the institution that gave so much to me and my family," she said. "I will work diligently to enhance the university, and support its students and the community at large."
She received her bachelor of science degree in 1978 from YSU, graduating summa cum laude, and received a medical degree in 1981 as a member of the charter class of the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She is a 1974 Canfield High School graduate.
Bitonte Miladore completed residencies in emergency medicine at Akron General Medical Center and St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo, serving as physician in charge of the life flight helicopter during her final year of residency.
She also worked as an emergency room attending physician at The Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, St. Elizabeth Health Center and the Beeghly Urgent Care Center.
At YSU, she is a member of the president's council, the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services Board of Visitors and the Penguin Club.
The Bitonte College is named for her parents, Dr. Dominic A. and Helen M. Bitonte.
Current responsibilities
Bitonte Miladore works at NEOUCOM, serving as a clinical faculty member and as a member of the admissions committee, the academic review committee and the clinical competency assessment medical advisory board. She is also an adviser to medical students.
She is married to Dr. Michael J. Miladore, an orthopedic surgeon in Youngstown. They have three sons: Michael, a YSU student in the NEOUCOM bachelor of science/medical degree program; Nicholas, a Canfield High School junior; and Joseph, a Canfield Village Middle School eighth-grader.
Dr. Kohli is a neurosurgeon and clinical professor of neurosurgery at NEOUCOM, where he serves on the board of trustees.
He is also director of neurological surgery at St. Elizabeth. He has served on the board of the Humility of Mary Health System, St. Elizabeth Foundation, Eastern Ohio Physicians Organization, American College of International Physicians and the International Institute.
The governor also needs to appoint a replacement for Larry E. Esterly of Poland, the board's chairman, who died at his home last Saturday.
Esterly's term as chairman was to expire at the end of this month. His term on the board was to expire in May 2006.
The governor's office doesn't have a time frame for naming a replacement for Esterly.
