Why man died from Taser shot still unknown

Vernon Young had served time for robbery, domestic violence and assault.
BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) -- A coroner is trying to determine why a 31-year-old man died after a police officer shot him with a Taser.
Police said Vernon Young went on a rampage at his apartment building in suburban Union Township, located just east of Cincinnati, and was subdued with a Taser on Friday.
Young claimed he was hearing voices and fired a gun into his closet, then went to the building manager's apartment and threatened her with a knife, Lt. Mark Griffith said. The manager locked herself in the bathroom and called police.
Witnesses told police that Young was "agitated as if he was on drugs or having an emotional breakdown," Griffith said.
After Young was shot with a Taser, which delivers a 50,000-volt jolt, he was taken to Mercy Hospital Anderson for a precautionary exam. He died about an hour later, Griffith said.
Young spent about eight months in prison in 1999 for domestic violence, and about 20 months in prison for robbery and assault before being released on parole last September, prison officials said.
