YOUNGSTOWN -- Charles Wilhell, 14, of Cherry Hill Avenue was dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Friday afternoon, the victim of an apparent fall, police said. Officers who interviewed his 26-year-old brother at Chuck's Recycling Center on Waverly Street were told that the boy fell off a front loader and may have hit his head. The case is expected to be turned over to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, police said.
State patrol investigatesfatal crash in Hubbard
HUBBARD -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the fatality of a Masury woman who died in a crash Friday evening at Flying J Truck Stop on U.S. Route 62 in the township. The patrol said Judy Gabriel, 52, was pulling her car out of the truck stop and heading east, when it was struck by a southbound tractor-trailer. The car was pushed into another semi that was stopped in the northbound lane waiting to turn into the truck stop; it struck the car's passenger side. Gabriel wasn't wearing a seat belt and was dead at the scene, authorities said. The truck drivers had minor injuries.
Scott Twp. man diesin crash in Lawrence Co.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A Pittsburgh man died on state Route 19 in Scott Township about 4:30 a.m. Saturday after his vehicle was struck by another car. State police said M. Scott Fickess, 42, died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt. Dennis W. Book, 19, of Slippery Rock was southbound on Route 19 and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. His vehicle went off the right side of the road and through a grassy area, then re-entered the road and crossed into the oncoming lane, striking the Fickess vehicle. Book, also not wearing a seat belt, was treated at Grove City Hospital. State police said their investigation continues.
