MAHONING COUNTY Commissioners

The county commissioners also handled these matters Thursday:
Heard a plea from the Ohio State University Extension service for commissioners to find a way to fund 4-H programs this year. There will be just one person in the extension office on May 20 if additional money isn't found, the extension service representative said.
Heard from Richard Ouzounian, founder of the Western Reserve Film Commission, that the movie "Sleeping Dogs Lie" will be filmed in Youngstown and Warren. Ouzounian also asked commissioners to support pending legislation in the state Legislature that would pave the way for tax breaks and other incentives for filmmakers to come to Ohio. The legislation is similar to one passed in Louisiana two years ago. As a result of those incentives, some $250 million in film production has been done in that state, Ouzounian said.
Awarded proclamations to Joseph Gorman Sr. of the county's mental health board, and to representatives of the county's hospitals. May is National Health Month and this week is National Hospital Week.
