Applications accepted until last day of month

Up to 40 people will be chosen for the next class.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Applications for the 2005-06 class of Leadership Mahoning Valley will be accepted until May 31.
The 10-month community leadership program identifies and brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who have demonstrated leadership ability and a commitment to the community.
The community leaders will receive a general overview of the Mahoning Valley and increased understanding of key community issues. In addition, participants will have opportunities to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

The program includes an opening retreat in the fall, a mid-year retreat in January and eight, monthly daylong sessions. Each session centers on a different topic and a major community system such as education, health, human service, government, justice, labor, business, media and the quality of life. A graduation dinner takes place in June to conclude the class year.
A selection committee will choose up to 40 class participants. Candidates may request applications directly or be nominated to apply by their employer, a program graduate or others.
The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs, including retreat accommodations, and program meals. A fee of $25 is charged for the application processing.
