YOUNGSTOWN -- Maureen Colleens of Easy Street Productions will offer three performance workshops for children this summer at Ursuline High School. Classes are open to beginners and seasoned performers. Cost is $50 per pupil. Registration deadline is May 23. Classes will run June 13 to July 1, culminating with performances in Ursuline's auditorium. Class sizes are limited and are arranged by grade level as follows: Section 1, kindergarten to second grade: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; Section 2, grades 3-5: 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and Section 3, grades 6-8: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Checks should be made payable to Maureen Collins and mailed to Easy Street Productions, P.O. Box 524, Youngstown 44501.
Sunday at The Butler
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Butler Institute of American Art on Sunday will feature "Views of Nascar," super realist paintings by Ron Kleemann featuring the racing automobile as subject; works in pastels by Cleveland native Kay Hurley; shaped canvases and relief sculpture by the late Abraham Joel Tobias, who created murals for the WPA in the 1930s; unique works on paper by Bernard Chaet, a Boston artist and professor of drawing at Yale University Art School; and three installation works featuring digital and video technologies of light, color and sound by Michael Hardesty. Fairy tale parody
LISBON -- Stage Left Youth Players presents a parody of all fairy tales, "Once upon a Time," at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Outreach Center, 234 E. Lincoln Way. The comedic mixed-up tale, written by Barbara Floyd and directed by Holly Pickens, features a wicked stepmamma, a giant, a fairy god-gramma, a lovely young girl and a handsome boy. Summer dance classes
