Beaver trustees secure pact for road work

NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township trustees have contracted with the Shelly Co. for $83,104 to resurface Middletown Road.
At the trustees' meeting Tuesday, the township road department reported workers are preparing the road for the project, which -- weather permitting -- is expected to begin within the next several weeks.
Also, the road department has changed its office hours to 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through summer.
Meanwhile, trustees are considering buying a new firetruck from Precision Fire Apparatus, based in Missouri, for $298,476. The truck, fire department officials said, has the capability to act as a water source truck while also serving as a rescue vehicle.
Trustees agreed to submit the proposal to the county prosecutor's office for review. Once the proposal is returned to the township, trustees said they will then vote on whether to buy the truck.
