RESURFACING Trustees hope to have more roads repaved

Trustees OK'd an agreement for additional recycling sites.
AUSTINTOWN -- Trustees say they hope to resurface five miles of township roads this year.
At their regular meeting Monday, trustees authorized Clerk Michael Kurish to advertise for bids and set a bid opening of June 13 for the resurfacing program.
All five miles of roads might not get paved if the bids come in too high, officials said. Last year, the township resurfaced about three miles of roads.
The tentative list includes portions of streets throughout the township.
The panel also approved an agreement with the Recycling Division of Mahoning County for four locations for recycling bins. The agreement is for $42,000 a year beginning this year and continuing through 2007.
Sites
The four bins will be located next to township hall, Ohltown Road; Trustees Park, Raccoon Road; the Turner Road fire station; and near the Stacy Pavilion on Kirk Road in the township park. The park and fire station are new locations.
Trustee Lisa Oles said that for years, the township received $22,000 from the recycling division to have the bins on township property.
"Because this board met with the Green Team, we got them to agree to come up $20,000 a year," she said.
