XBurghill-Vernon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor a Chinese auction Sunday at the Burghill-Vernon Fire Station, 6915 state Routes 88 and 7. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and the drawing will be at 3. Admission is $3 and includes beverage and cupcake.
FUND-RAISERS
XAlzheimer's Assistance and Referral Network will sponsor Walking Together on May 21 at the Canfield Fairgrounds to help the network support the Alzheimer cause. XThe 5th annual Donofrio Homes Scholarship Cookout will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. XMemorial Benefit Run, in memory of Amanda Ferraro, will held on May 22, starting at the Budapest Inn, 3780 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Sign-ups will begin at 11 a.m. The first bike out will be at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 for driver, $15 with passenger. There will be food, a disc jockey, door prizes, 50-50 raffle and Chinese auction. XBrownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, Midlothian and Irma Avenues, Youngstown, will hold its spring thrift sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Items will be $1 a bag on Wednesday.
XOhltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, will hold its semiannual trash and treasure sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon May 21. Lunch will be available Saturday.

SHOWS
XAnimal Charity is seeking qualified contestants to participate in a dog show on June 5 in Boardman Park. To be entered, a dog must be spayed or neutered and have all of its current vaccinations. The show will feature dogs of various breeds, including mixed breed dogs. The dogs will be judged in several categories, with prizes donated by local businesses. During the event, all dogs must be on a leash and owners will be required to clean up any waste their pets create. To enter a dog or to donate prizes call Animal Charity at (330) 788-1064.
TOURNAMENTS
XTexas Hold-em Extravaganza will be held Friday through Sunday at Aristocrat Hall, 571 Francisca Ave., Youngstown. Tournament play will begin Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a $40 buy-in; Saturday play begins at 3 p.m., $100 buy-in; Sunday, play begins at 1 p.m., $40 buy-in. VOLUNTEERS
XNorth Star Patchwork Center is seeking experienced volunteer quilters to assist with its Underground Railroad Quilt. The quilt is made with the designs and patterns used as signals to the slaves who traveled the underground railroad north to freedom. The quilt honors the memory of Harriet Tubman, the slaves and those who helped them to travel on their way to freedom.
