Springfield drops Mineral Ridge to win Inter-County League title



MINERAL RIDGE -- The Springfield High softball team clinched the Inter-County League title, defeating Mineral Ridge 7-3 Friday with a 20-hit attack.
Ashley Fagnano hit a single, double, triple and drove in two runs to pace the Tigers (16-4, 10-1). Heather Snyder hit two singles and a double and drove in two runs.
Poland 3, Mogadore Field 2
COVENTRY -- Kari Thompson had two hits, including a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth, as Poland rallied from a 2-0 deficit.
Thompson's double scored Ashley Tadla and Ashley Conger. Liz Maher (3-0) got the win, striking out nine. She held the Falcons scoreless for the final six innings.
Minerva 4, West Branch 3
BELOIT -- Evelyn Woods had two hits, including a double, and Bri Benedict added a triple for the Warriors (9-11, 3-9) in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Maplewood 11, Mathews 1
VIENNA -- Amber Sypert had three hits, including a homer, and two RBIs, while Megan Rowbottom had two hits and two RBIs for Maplewood (11-3, 7-1), which avenged its only East Suburban Conference loss.
Markie Pozzuto (6-2) had 11 strikeouts and a walk for the Rockets, while Tori Spencer had two hits.
